Are There Victimless Crimes?
If we find that our actions although noble in approach are really illegal, should they be acceptable if no one gets hurt by the course of action?
What is an acceptable way of doing business? Just because productivity rises and revenue is generated, is the ethical way of conducting business dismissed?
If a seemingly harmless act generates profitability, happiness and wealth should there be anything wrong with it? White collar criminals receive harsher punishment than drug runners!
We all know the obvious answer as to what we should do with regard to the law. Obey it, abide by it, never break it.
What happens when we fall short? What occurs to our emotional, educational, physical and mental well being? What about our families, friends, employers and employees?
We are all faced with the decision, at some point in our lives where we may compromise our ethics, morals or feelings. We do so for a variety of reasons, help a friend, get ahead in business, curry the boss' favor or self greed. It is said that everyone has a price for which they will compromise themselves to accelerate their personal desires and possibly achieve their personal goals. Some decisions seem harmless and in fact are victimless crimes with no real harm perpetrated to anyone.
